Today was Thanksgiving in the United States and what better time to celebrate book bloggers who labor on behalf of books than Thanksgiving? Here’s a message from Glenn Paskin:
When my first book, the biography of pianist Vladimir Horowitz was published three decades ago (I was only 14 at the time, of course) writers had limited venues for communicating directly with readers. In promoting a book, you had feature print interviews, radio, and TV—still all vital venues—but the Internet, of course, had not yet revolutionized a writer’s ability to reach out to people directly. I am, therefore, grateful to our great community of book bloggers who initiate their reviews, interviews, and opinion pieces that have become both valuable and competitive to traditional media sources. My latest book, KATIE UP AND DOWN THE HALL is all about how one dog had the power to united five neighbors and turn them into a family. I’ve been intrigued to read reviews and articles about the book penned by bloggers and they are uniformly excellent. There’s a passion in the writing that’s quite different from the dispassionate voice of newspapers and magazines. And for this, both my new dog, Lucy, and I are grateful. So let’s celebrate book blogger appreciation week—and turn it into a month.”
I just read the book about Katie. It is heartwarming. I would definitely recommend it to dog lovers or anyone for that matter. She was truly a special dog for uniting neighbors the way she did. I had a dog until recently, and the decision when to let them go is always so difficult. Then we feel doubtful if we did the right thing, but in our hea rts, we know we did. THANKS for writing this book|
