What Book Am I?
From this unusual description, tell me the title of this book:
A father buried in books unwittingly raises a gaggle of daughters with boisterous and subdued ways. Their mother has one thing in mind and won’t be happy until they comply. One daughter is placid and ready to go along, another is prepared to fall off the deep end, and another is blinded by society’s constricting ways. A suitor views one daughter from afar, but she doesn’t like his lofty ways. She decides he’s not for her, only to change her mind.
Prize is $25 gift card from Amazon

Book Bloggers Fill a Need, Kyle Semmel of The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, Md.
Book bloggers take a lot of time crafting their reviews after reading books, and in some cases, they go beyond reviews and touch upon social media and other issues.
Kyle Semmel of The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, Md., wanted to express his thoughts on book bloggers and offer those in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia area a chance to become a member of the center for one full year.
Also, for those not in the area, there is one full-year subscription to The Writer’s Center‘s magazine, Poet Lore, (which turns 120 years old this year) available to bloggers anywhere in the world.
With decreased coverage of books—especially those by emerging authors—in mass media like newspaper and radio, what used to be a driving force for literature, book bloggers have a special role to fill in today’s literary marketplace: they bring quality authors to the reading public’s attention, authors who may be overlooked elsewhere.
For those interested in the membership for one-year, please leave a comment on this post by Sept. 20, 2009, 11:59PM EST.
For those interested in the year’s subscription to Poet Lore, please leave a comment on this post by Sept. 20, 2009, 11:59PM EST.

Mahbod Seraji on Book Bloggers
Rooftops of Tehran by Mahbod Seraji is an emotional and cultural roller coaster.
There’s been some exciting news about this debut novel. From Broward Community College to the Villanova One Book Program, the book is making its way into students hands across America. Rooftops was selected as Indie Fall and Winter 2009-2010 Book Group favorites, Santa Cruz’s Community selection for October, and a September pick for LiteraryMatters.
Rooftops of Tehran also is being published in nine different languages, and most recently selected for translation into Italian.
Not only did Mr. Seraji want to share with us this great news, but he also wanted to let us know that he appreciates what we do.
“I love book bloggers - they have been my primary vehicle to get the word out about my debut novel, Rooftops of Tehran! In appreciation for all you do, here’s three copies of my book.”
Additionally, he wanted to offer everyone participating in Book Blogger Appreciation Week a chance to win a copy of Rooftops of Tehran. He’s offered 3 copies of the book for an international giveaway.
All you have to do is leave a comment. Giveaway is open to all participants through Sept. 20, 2009, at 11:59PM EST.
He’s also got a simultaneous BBAW giveaway on Savvy Verse & Wit.
