Book Blogger Appreciation was started by Amy Riley of My Friend Amy in an effort to recognize the hard work and contribution of book bloggers to the promotion and preservation of a literate culture actively engaged in discussing books, authors, and a lifestyle of reading.
The first Book Blogger Appreciation was observed in the fall of 2008 and occurs every September. The week spotlights and celebrates the work of active book bloggers through guest posts, awards, giveaways, and community activities. Book Bloggers are encouraged to register their participation for inclusion in a database of book bloggers.
What happens to the data collected for the book blogger database?
All the data submitted to the Book Blogger Database does into into the BBAW Directory. It is not sold to any organizations, persons, or companies. The database is maintained by Amy Riley (aka My Friend Amy).
BBAW promises contests and giveaways; who supplies these?
Giveaways are sponsored by book bloggers, authors and publishers. Anybody is welcome to contribute!
Who are the judges of the BBAW awards?
Judges (also known as 'Panelists') will not be announced until after the judging period in order to protect the judges from unfair manipulation. Panels are a mixture of bloggers, readers, and authors and have been carefully selected to avoid bias. The judges are selected and approached by the BBAW Awards Committee.
What is the BBAW Awards Committee, and how can I get involved?
The BBAW Awards Committee is made up of book bloggers who volunteered after the inaugural Book Blogger Appreciation Week. Unfortunately, the committee is full for the 2009 BBAW, but please join in BBAW 2009 and hopefully we'll have space for more committee members in the following year.
Who owns the BBAW website?
All content is owned by the original blogger who created it. The domain (www.bookbloggerappreciationweek.com) and space is owned by Amy Riley (aka My Friend Amy). The graphics and coding were created by Monica Miller (aka monnibo) using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and ExpressionEngine.
